It's DC Fashion Week: A Preview...

For the second year in a row I've been attending DC Fashion Week. Many things have been said about the DC fashion scene, among the most predominant and often-said things are that DC is far from being a fashionable place...

Yes, of course, it's not New York City, neither it is Milan and Paris...but, at the same time, DC should not be disregarded as a non-fashionable city. It does have its own 'fashion' scene. It does have its own fashionistas. And it does have some great boutiques. [One of which I've been adoring since I've discovered it three years ago - Southmoon Under].... It's just DC fashion scene is on a smaller - [much smaller] - scale than in places like NYC and Los Angeles.

The fact that DC does have fashion week is already an accomplishments. DC Fashion Week is still of a 'toddler' age, but it's slowly growing and maturing and some of the designers who participate might be the next Russell Simmons or Derek Lam. Just give it a time. It'll evolve. The DC residents and their genuine interest in the fashion industry would make it happen...

Here is a preview of the last night's fashion shows, which were all about the Menswear Collections Spring 2012 by Andrew Nowell Menswear, Top Rank, Paul Koko, Estella Couture, Mason Sylvester, Ray Vincent and Olga De Nogga...
